By giving globally, donors have the power to create ‌lasting impact and support causes around the world. After all, we know most of the major issues of our time aren’t restricted by national borders. Three leaders who have been involved in global social change efforts offered their perspectives about why donors should be thinking about global movements.

Maria Sjödin is the Executive Director of Outright International, which works with partners around the globe to strengthen the capacity of the LGBTIQ human rights movement, document and amplify human rights violations, and advocate for inclusion and equality. Outright holds consultative status at the United Nations and has recently distributed more than $6.5M to LGBTIQ communities through its COVID-19 and Ukraine Emergency Funds.

Tamara Toles O’Laughlin discusses how there are no wins on climate if there is no domestic policy tied to what the global responsibilities are.
Tamara Toles O’Laughlin is a climate strategist and environmental advocate who’s been working in the field for over 20 years. She currently serves as the President and Chief Executive Officer of the Environmental Grantmakers Association, which works to promote just, effective philanthropy for people and the planet.

Jamila Headley discusses how the global pandemic completely transformed the way we all live and interact.
Jamila Headley is a leader in the fight for transparency and accountability in health policy, with local expertise from Barbados, Puerto Rico, New York City, and Oxford, U.K. Currently, she serves as Co-Executive Director at Be a Hero, which takes on the impossible fights and amplifies stories of incredible heroism in the face of injustice.
